SANA Hindi Puro Salita Ang SONA

The SONA was none other than a clear finger post in the road of ‘Daang Matuwid’. It is an affirmation that good governance is working because resources are now starting to reach the ground. Arguably, there is so much more need and backlog to respond to but the figures that the president showed indicated that we are on our way to recovery.

There were good points in the SONA. Though, it could have been better. What is sure enough is, I didn’t like the intro! I was like “Oh no! here we go again!” But later on, it improved and generally, I’ll give him 7/10.

Kudos to the speech writers magaling especially if you are not a critical thinker and not familiar with the digits.

May conflicting point of views lang:

1) 500php redundant towards our current economic set up na GSIS Pension vs 500php net from 1,500php CCT fund after the kotongs.

2) The ineffectiveness of Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) program ni Secretary Dinky Soliman of DSWD na billions of pesos ang budget mataas pa yata sa AFP Modernization budget natin in 5 years na nauuwi lang sa corruption and pampa-pogi ng LGUs pababa sa Barangay Level.

….and many more conflicting logic. But anyway, its irrelevant since the minority will always be irrelevant to this Administration anyway.

From the point of view of the LGUs, CCT is a very good program which directly addresses the problem of poverty on a short-term and long-term perspective. There can be no corruption as regards to the cash given to the beneficiaries because it is directly given to the people. However, I can’t speak the same as with regards to the budget for operational cost. This is where the possible corruption may penetrate. Try auditing DSWD’s mancom and execom operational expenses (communication and automation requirements, travel and hotel accommodation allowances, representation allowances, etc.) alone and find out the if the figures are aceptable.

Aba eh, 3rd biggest recipient ang Phils in 2011, after China and India. In 2010, the World Bank Export said remittance inflows to the Philippines was recorded with $21.3 billion!!!!

Saan ba talaga ang primary source of income niya? Ooopps, may mga taxes pa rin kami, ha, other than our remittances to our families!

Dedma, no mention sa dapat ay pinakamahalagang topic to provide transparency. May itinatago pa rin ba ang pamahalaan sa atin kaya ayaw pa ring banggitin at ipasa iyan?

The experience is that the government statistics were always window dressed, and could hardly be verified or substantiated with reliable data, unless there’s FOI. Window-dressed statistics? Our statisticians may not be deliberately “window-dressing” the numbers. There might just be errors probably due to lack of resources, or limited data, etc., or worst, the government is just picking the good or positive statistics and leaving out the negatives.

Kung baga, the product should speak for itself. But, I do believe that would be totally wishful thinking. Noone in his right mind would do that. We could not really demand honesty from everyone. Not from PNoy or from the government.

Promise! Pikon talo!

I wish the SONA were a two way reporting or with a response from at least a few sectors. Tutal naman, the real State of the Nation is the Experience of its People! Kaso hindi na iyon address. . dialogue na ang tawag dun. State of the nation dialogue na iyon.

What’s good is that with today’s media and the Internet almost any body can say his own take on the state of the country. We should all have a scorecard based on performance. His rating of his governance vs our rating of his governance!

But the real test of “tuwid na daan” will be the coming elections, will it be politics as usual?

May I simply say what a comfort to discover somebody that actually
knows what they are talking about on the net. You certainly know how to bring
an issue to light and make it important. More and more people
should read this and understand this side of your story.
I was surprised you are not more popular because you definitely have the
    gift.
