Sarah Pope, An Economist blogger of The Healthy Home Economist, in reply to Atty. Henry Villacorta, Chief of Staff of Senator C. Vicente Sotto III, said she does not approve of Sotto using her work without her permission “against the education of the women of the Philippines and their reproductive rights.”
She also said Sotto is responsible for his staff’s actions.
“That is the issue and it was indeed plagiarism. If his staff did it, he condoned it. He is responsible for your actions. My blog was quoted, not Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride. I put her work in my own words and you copied my words,” she said.
“A woman needs to know that the Pill can indeed harm her but this is NO REASON to take away this choice from her in the first place,” she added.
“I do not agree with Senator Sotto’s position on this issue and he twisted the message of my blog to suit his own purposes against the women of the Philippines,” Pope said.
“Your lame comment does not make me feel any better,” she told Villacorta.
Unbelievable! That has got to be one of the most arrogant apologies I’ve ever seen, if it was meant to be an apology at all! First he admits that Sarah’s blog was used..then he asks what they have done to deserve her incriminating words?! “forgive us our single trespass”, “don’t deflect the debate to this matter of plagiarism”, “join us in the side of life and TRUTH”, “no malice”, “there was no injury”.
Pang komedi na walang “K”. I must be dreaming. This is so unreal. tsk tsk tsk…This speaks volumes of the Atty’s sense of values. Love it. It’s like we do not need to do anything at all because they are doing a good job on hurting themselves. They’re tripping all over the place. Lol!
How low can you go Atty Hector? YOU ACTUALLY CONSIDER THIS AN APOLOGY, ATTY. HECTOR A. VILLACORTA-E? Tsk tsk tsk. IN SHORT! KUMOPYA KAMI… INAMIN NAMIN… PERO HUWAG MO KAMING AWAYIN. ha ha ha…
From what planet did these plagiarists came from?
Maybe we can ask Dr. Guy to analyze this letter because I think parang Psychiatrist ang kailangan nya. For someone who is a lawyer and who probably have done a lot of papers during his schooldays, I am sure he knows about ethics and rules in writing. With what he has written, I will be even more insulted and I will ask my lawyer about it.
Ang sakit sa bangs! Is this for real? Coming from an attorney, his words are beyond AMUSING! Lol.. Hindi yan abugado kundi ABUGAGO!
Abogado ba talaga ito? Kung sabagay dime a dozen mga attorney diyan. Sumulat lang sa English palpak pa at walang capitalization. Pati si Rizal isinali. (Fuckin’ drama queens!) Si Sotto ang nagdeliver sa argument and therefore he should be accountable. Abogado bobo, Senador bobo, kaya ganyan nangyayari diyan, puro kabobohan.
This has to be the worst response I have ever seen from the staff of an elected official. Why does the “attorney” bring up Rizal to a non-Filipino? How can Sarah remember Rizal being the 7th child of his parents WHEN SARAH ISN’T EVEN A FILIPINO! For crying out loud!
“the unborn wants to be born”? what ARE these people ON???? GOOD GRAVY THEY’RE PSYCHIC! THEY CHANNEL THE THOUGHTS OF YET-TO-BE-JOINED SPERM CELLS AND EGG CELLS! MUTANTS LIVE AMONG US… and somehow I’m not surprised they’re on a Senator’s payroll.
And that “we thought you would be happy about it.” Happy about being misquoted and plagiarized? How did Hector A. Villacorta pass the bar exam with those type of arguments and horrid grammar?
What a shame, both lawyer and senator don’t seem to know the meaning of integrity! Wow! Clearly government employees are fucking insane.
Reflective din yang sense of entitlement and lack of accountability sa Philippine government. Sabi nga garbage in, garbage out.
Lawyers of all people, especially those working for legislators, should be very much aware of proper citing of sources, including quoting within a quote or paraphrasing a reference material. When quoting something verbatim and extensively what someone has already quoted, do you just give credit to the so-called “original source”? And when you do so, are you sure it is not out of context? And if you have to make such linguistic contortion of your source, do you explain why? By the way, there is such a thing as command responsibility.
Sana nilagyan na lang niya ng “Made in China” as a footnote iyong speech niya, kung nakalimutan kunwari iyong source. Ngeeek!
Most politicians have ghost writers, kasi busy sila. The ghostwriters do the research, create a speech-worthy essay, and submit it to them. There are existing anti-plagiarism softwares na free for all, sana man lang chineck. Tamad kasi!
Please!
